NETWORKING EVENT January 28 & 29, 2016, BERLIN
GERMAN-UKRAINIAN ACADEMIC COOPERATION: BEST PRACTICE, CHALLENGES & OPPORTUNITIES
This event was initiated by a group of German scientists of Ukrainian origin. It was organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in coordination with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) and supported by the GIZ’s program “Rückkehrende Fachkräfte”, the German Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The meeting aimed to foster German-Ukrainian cooperation in science and higher education. It provided a broad platform for information and best-practice exchange in the area of bi-lateral academic cooperation, especially on dedicated funding opportunities and relevant support programmes, ongoing reforms in Ukraine, and facilitate the dialogue between the academic community and organisations funding and promoting academic and S&T cooperation with Ukraine. Furthermore, it is anticipated that participants form a research network – the “UKRainian Academic International Network” (working title: the UKRAINE Network). This network is aimed at fostering academic co-operation with Ukraine, enhancing the Ukraine competence-base in Germany and vice versa, as well as supporting career development of its members and raising their visibility.
The KNU was represented by the Head of the German Law Centre (Das Zentrum des deutschen Rechts) Prof. R. Melnyk and the Head of the German-Ukrainian Jurisprudental Dialogue NGO (http://rechtsdialog.org/ua/) Dr. O. Shablii.
